Vocational Rehabilitation Services are the cornerstone of our efforts to help individuals of work age with disabilities and socially deprived become gainfully employed and self-sufficient.
Vocational assessment
- A comprehensive evaluation and assessment is conducted with the purpose of identifying the client’s level of vocational functioning including education, training and placement needs. Vocational evaluation incorporates medical, psychological, social, vocational, educational, cultural and economic data into the process to attain the goals of evaluation. This data is collected through interviews, in-depth psychometric and vocational testing and vocational counseling.
Vocational Counseling and Planning
- Based on the findings provided by the vocational assessment, Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE) is developed in order to determine the client’s objectives. According to the IPE, the client with the help of a rehabilitation counselor determines the job the client is ultimately to be placed in and plans the services necessary to reach that job goal.
Workplace Accommodations and Assistive Technology
- CRCA may assist the client or employer in making reasonable accommodations at the work site in order to perform their jobs effectively. Typical work place accommodations include minor modifications to job responsibilities, flexible workplace policies or assistive technology devices that help individuals overcome visual, hearing, cognitive and mobility impairments. Because each individual and each work environment are unique, CRCA’s professionals may visit the employee and employer on site before making recommendations.
Job Search Training
- The client is taught the necessary skills to seek out job vacancies and follow through the hiring process. This includes knowledge of where to find information about job openings, how to fill out an application, take employment tests, construct resumes, and make a positive impression before, during and after the interview.
Labor Market Surveys
- A systematic analysis based on an individual’s transferable skills and residual functional capacity, of a given job or jobs within a geographic area with respect to hiring trends, salary levels, employment availability, growth potential and future outlook.
Career Counseling for Youth
- CRCA’s vocational rehabilitation services can help students with/out disabilities get ready for their future careers. The career counseling process measures a person’s occupational likes and dislikes. It is achieved through interviews, standardized testing and information collected from other sources. The individual identifies his/her interests, learns of occupations related to these interests, and of the educational and physical demands to perform these occupations
